FARNHAM Park has been ranked among the best green spaces in the UK after being awarded a flag of excellence for the third year running.
The historic deer park in the grounds of Farnham Castle has again received a prestigious Green Flag Award from Keep Britain Tidy – the mark of a quality park or green space.
Waverley mayor Mike Band said: “A Green Flag flying overhead is a sign to the public that the space boasts the highest possible standards, is beautifully maintained and has excellent facilities. We are absolutely delighted to receive a Green Flag Award for Farnham Park.”
Waverley Borough Council, which manages Farnham Park, also received a Green Flag Award for Broadwater Park in Farncombe for the first time.
Stewart Stennett, Waverley’s portfolio holder for parks and countryside, added: “These awards recognise and highlight that people in Waverley are benefitting from green spaces of the highest quality.
“I would like to congratulate and thank the parks and countryside team at Waverley for its hard work and continued success in maintaining our wonderful green spaces in the borough.”
As well as having Green Flag status, Farnham Park is a designated Site of Nature Conservation Importance, an area of Historic Landscape Value, a Grade II Listed Historic Park and Garden, and a nature reserve.
