THE AWARD-WINNING Farnham Youth Choir wants to ensure that no child should be prevented by financial circumstance from taking part in the fantastic musical training and performance opportunities it offers.
To do this the choir is launching a Bursary Scheme to coincide with the Big Give Christmas Campaign and they need your help.
Chair of Farnham Youth Choir, Helen Cole, said: “We want to remove the potential affordability barrier for children who would like to sing in an award-winning choir like FYC.
"The finances of families whose children already sing with us have been hit by the pandemic: the number struggling to pay for activities outside of school is expected to rise.
"By supporting the choir through the Big Give Christmas Challenge, you can ensure our Bursary Scheme gets off to a flying start which will benefit the local community in so many ways.”
Farnham Youth Choir not only provides local young people with amazing local opportunities, they also get the opportunity to perform abroad, record CD’s and even performed as part of the X Factor live finals at Wembley Arena in 2018.
The choir also teaches their members many transferable skills that benefit the community and young people long after they graduate from the choir.
The Big Give runs from midday on Tuesday, November 30 to midday on Tuesday, December 7 and enables charities to double any donations made at that time through match funding.
Donations to Farnham Youth Choir’s Bursary Scheme will be generously matched by the Lake House Charitable Foundation and another key supporter during the campaign, meaning one donation has twice the impact!
If you would like to support the youth choir then visit https://www.fyc.org.uk/the-big-give to make a donation or to sign up for a reminder.
