FUNSEEKERS made a beeline for St Andrew’s Parish Church in Farnham for this year’s annual fayre, which was hailed a “great success” by organisers - raising £6,000 for the church.
Farnham mayor Pat Frost opened the event and Canon Nigel Nicholson was the master of ceremonies. Throughout the day there was live music from Potters Gate Choir and other instrumentalists, which was played inside and outside the church to suit everyones needs.
The event was linked in with heritage open days, giving residents the opportunity to have a look around the church and one of the church’s famous bibles, which is normally tucked away for safe keeping was put on display for visitors to inspect.
Geoffrey Riggs, organiser and parish member, said: “It was a great day and it was fine weather, which made for a good atmosphere. It’s just a nice day out for everyone, we had lots of residents come and join us, from noon through to 4pm.
“Many commented saying ’it was the best fayre day that the parish has ever run’. We had various different stalls including, jams, cakes, a barbecue and a beer stand, jewellery, preserves and games for the children.
“And of course there was our famous teddy bear parachuting game, where you launch teddy bears from the church tower, and see how far they can fly. This went very well, the children loved it, some almost landed in Church Lane.”
