SUSSEX Police are appealing for witnesses after a woman from Easebourne died in a crash involving four cars on the A272, west of Petworth.

The fatal crash happened at around 6.20pm on Monday, November 21,between Brookfield Lane and Dean Lane, Tillington when a black BMW 323i travelling eastwards was in a head-on collision with a black Fiat Panda.

It then struck a red Nissan Qashqai, travelling in an eastbound direction, which then hit a roadside tree, police said.

A grey Ford Mondeo driven by a 40-year-old Worthing man was also involved in the incident. The Fiat driver, a 59-year-old woman from Easebourne, died at the scene.

The A272 was closed in both directions until just before 1.30am.
