Some people will go to great lengths to support the Farnham Festival and Phil Crenigan from Australia is no exception.
Former Farnham Amateur Operatic Society (FAOS) musical theatre group member and local resident, Phil is delighted to be coming half way round the world to join up with friends and former colleagues to promote this important fundraiser.
A renowned bass singer for the Sydney Philharmonia Choir, he will be performing in a double header of Gilbert and Sullivan’s HMS Pinafore and Trial by Jury - A Performance in a Day, with all proceeds going towards the Farnham Festival in 2019.
The fundraiser promises to be a fun, relaxed and entertaining day and Phil would love Farnham residents to either come and join him on stage to sing or to come and watch.
Phil said: “When Nicky Murdoch, the chair of the Farnham Festival, a great friend and former colleague at FAOS, asked me to think about participating in this fundraiser, I was only too happy to accept.
“I have so many happy memories of FAOS when we were living locally in Runfold, from the Mikado, Guys and Dolls, Half a Sixpence, to the Greatest Little Whorehouse in Texas.”
He added: “The Farnham Festival is special because it promotes and showcases music in all its various forms and is now a key event in the Farnham calendar. “I would just encourage all singers to join us and invite your readers to fill the house so we have an enthusiastic audience.”
Fortunately, Farnham residents won’t need to travel so far to take part, as it is being held at The Medici Theatre at Weydon School on Saturday, September 15.
Anyone interested in singing at the fundraiser should attend rehearsals from 1pm, where concert style books will be provided.
For those who would like to watch what promises to be a highly entertaining and memorable evening while supporting a great cause, the performance starts at 7pm.
Performer tickets can be bought for £15 and audience tickets for £10 at thelittleboxoffice.com/farnhamfestival, or visit farnhamfestival.org.uk.
