A FORMER leader of East Hampshire District Council is set to resign.

David Parkinson, a member of the district council's decision-making cabinet, has been the Conservative district councillor for East Meon for the past seven years.

He will be stepping down at the beginning of April.

A former leader of the authority who sensationally quit his post in 2010 after just 11 months in the job, Mr Parkinson went on to become one of the prime movers in the downfall of Ken Moon, who was ousted as leader of the district council last year, to be replaced by current incumbent Ferris Cowper.
