EAST Hampshire District Council’s next Community Forum for Alton and the surrounding villages will ask the question: “Would you know what to do in the event of a terrorist attack?”

Starting 6.30pm tomorrow (Tuesday) at the Alton Maltings Centre, a representative from nationwide charity CitizenAID will be on hand to offer advice on what to do in the event of an emergency.

Last year, CitizenAID launched its safety campaign ‘Run, Hide, Tell’ in the wake of incidents in London and Manchester. An app has also been launched to give people a safe way of accessing advice.

Alton councillor Graham Hill, chairman of the Community Forum, said: “The chances of someone being affected by something like this is very, very rare, especially in East Hampshire, but it pays to be prepared.

“Some people are put off travelling to busy places or attending crowded events because they are nervous about what might happen and parents may be worried about the safety of their children. The CitizenAID app will help people make sensible decisions if they are caught up in an incident, placing useful advice at their fingertips.”

Also on the agenda will be an opportunity for public question time, and an urgent request by Four Marks Parish Council for the release of developers’ contributions, for environmental improvements, up to £44,734.69 to fund the Oak Green Parade improvement project. This will include work to restore and improve the flower beds and planting, to enhance the area, and the enlargement and improvement of the car park.
