RESIDENTS of the Hawthorn Lane area of Four Marks turned out in numbers to support the appellants in a public inquiry which will decide the future of the six-acre Trenchard Scrapyard site which has operated in the lane for some 50 years.

Quada (Hampshire) Limited had appealed against East Hampshire District Council's refusal of permission to allow them to build four houses on the land in place of the scrapyard operation which draws heavy traffic to the narrow lane.
