A SAILABILITY member has secured a gold award and certificate for “sailing independently” at the club.

Yvonne Spencer, who attends the Woodlarks Centre in Farnham, visits the Sailability class at the Frensham Pond Sailing Club on both Thursdays and Saturdays, and collected her award on Saturday, October 19.

The gold award is given to those who progress to “sailing independently in the very simple 2.3 single sail boat”.

On her award, Yvonne said: “I am very happy with this achievement and I love being able to sail alone on the Hansa dinghy, also I would like to give my sincere thanks to my instructors and volunteers at the club.”

Ben Madombwe of the Woodlarks Centre said: “It has always been her wish to learn to sail independently. Her gold award is a result of her hard work, motivation and desire for accomplishment, which she says gives her satisfaction.

“She attended her lessons every week and always looked forward to the next.”
