FRIENDS Together, a new social group for people who have experienced the loss of a loved one and would benefit from having someone to talk with, is appealing for new facilities.

The group was founded in November last year led by Mary Baines, lay chaplain at Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice, and meets every Monday afternoon between 3pm and 4.30pm for a hot drink and a chat.

Yvonne Bryant, one of the group’s volunteers, said: “As pastoral assistants in Farnham we are aware of the need for a group such as this to help counteract the tremendous amount of loneliness encountered by many people.

“We have been meeting in the Caffe Nero, with the kind permission of the manager, to whom we are extremely grateful for accommodating us. However, we would now like to move this group into a more private area.

“We are looking for a room that would take up to 20 people, which has a degree of privacy, and hopefully is near the centre of Farnham.

“We have no means of funding to enable us to pay for this room and therefore our request is for the use of a room and/or some means of funding to pay for the hire.”

Anyone able to help is asked to call Mary Haines or Yvonne Bryant on 07999368128. This number can also be called for bereavement support and Friends Together is not just limited to those recently bereaved.
