A PLEA has been made for East Hampshire District Council to consider jointly the planning applications to replace both Greatham's pubs with houses.
Greatham parish councillors decided at their monthly meeting to write asking the district council to consider the impact that the loss of both pubs would have on the village.
A change of use application and plans to build 15 homes on the site of the Silver Birch Inn have been submitted by chartered architects Denning Male Polisano, along with plans to retain the existing large family home Witham House.
However another outline planning application was submitted last week by the Greene King Brewery for the demolition of The Queen and construction of seven homes.
Parish council chairman Elwyn Evans said: "We would not like to lose both pubs and somebody has also expressed an interest in buying The Queen and turning it back into a pub and restaurant.
"We have asked the district council about the possibility of arranging a meeting so that we can discuss this."
Chris Lyons, who is the district council's case officer for both planning applications, told The Herald that the council would be sympathetic to Greatham's concerns.
However he said that the applications would have to be considered individually.
He said: "By law we have to consider each application on its own merits. Obviously there is a link between the two cases because they are both to replace a pub, but we are not allowed to consider them together.
"However, we would obviously be concerned about the loss of both pubs and the effect that that would have on village life."
Mr Lyons said that, although no decision has been made, it was likely that the planning applications would both be decided by the south planning committee if permission was likely to be granted.
However, he said, in the case of a refusal, the decision was likely to be taken by planning officers done under delegated powers.
A decision on both application is likely to be made next month.
