THE family of long-serving Hedgehogs volunteer and West Street hairdresser Terry Taylor have donated more than £7,000 to the Lymphoma Research Trust following a gala dinner in his memory.
Around 140 guests packed into the Great Hall at Farnham Castle to celebrate Terry’s life in November and the proceeds of the black-tie event will now go towards improving treatment of the condition that curtailed the much-loved 77 year old’s life.
The gala dinner boasted a drinks reception followed by a three-course meal and entertainment including a charity casino, disco, as well as a raffle and auction of lots including a two-night stay at the JW Marriott Hotel in Park Lane London.
Dr Gillian Vaughan Hudson, chairman of The Lymphoma Research Trust, also attended and Terry’s niece Clare Davies has thanked all those who supported the event, adding: “It was a fantastic night with everyone saying how much they enjoyed it and how quickly the time went.”
A Farnham man through and through, Terry ran Jon Terry’s Hair Studio in West Street from the early 1960s until retiring in the late 90s.
However, he is perhaps best known for his volunteering work with the Hedgehogs with whom he remained an active member right up until his death in May 2015 - less than a year after he was diagnosed with non-Hodgkins lymphoma.
