A PLANNING application to build two luxury homes in the garden of an historic hop house in The Bourne has faced widespread opposition from neighbours.
Developer Andrew Searchfield, of Searchfields Homes, has applied to build a pair of two-storey, five-bedroom homes in the garden of Heron Court in Ford Lane, which has recently been listed as a Building of Local Merit.
Heron Court is believed to date back to the 18th century and was once home to Farnham's successful brewing industry, storing hops grown on the banks of the Bourne stream.
The deadline for comments on the application expired last Friday, with 42 objections and just one in support. Many objectors expressed fears the development could jeopardise the future of Heron Court.
