THE Farnham Weyside Rotary Club ducks were spotted recently at one of their training sessions, where it appeared that all was not well.

They were all resting on the bank, watched anxiously by duckmaster Cherylle Westgate and Tilly, but not responding to their team leader’s instructions.

Perhaps this was due to exhaustion, since they have been doing this race for 30 years now.

The big day comes on Saturday, April 29, when they will have no option but to race down the River Wey as they are launched in by the Mayor of Farnham, John Ward.

This will mark the start of the Farnham Duck Race celebrations held in Gostrey Meadow from 10am onwards.

The first race is at noon, and racing continues until mid-afternoon.

Gostrey Meadow will be full of activity all day as dozens of local charities promote their work, alongside all kinds of entertainment, amusements for the children and plenty of food and drink.

The event is organised by Farnham Weyside Rotary Club to raise funds for the Woodlarks Centre and other Rotary charities.
