A COCKTAIL lounge will open in Farnham after bosses were granted a licence despite a fierce objection.
Waverley borough councillors gave the go-ahead on Monday in the face of an objection from a neighbouring beauty salon, which called for it to be refused "for the good of the town's existing businesses and the general public".
The application by Matthew Webster, for Baruba, requested opening hours from 8am to 12.30am on Monday to Wednesday, 8am to 1.30am on Thursday to Saturday and 9am to 11.30pm on Sunday.
The neighbouring business claimed it would "kill" the relaxed beauty salon and that "a licensed premises down a narrow walkway opposite a large pub is a recipe for increased crime, criminal damage, anti-social behaviour and general disorder".
