THE Girlguiding Farnham Division held a fruitful volunteer recruitment day at The Bush Hotel after invitations were sent out to more than 500 families who have children wanting to join either Rainbows, Brownies, Guides or Senior Section.

Across the Girlguiding Farnham Division there are 34 units run by 60 volunteers, all providing fun and adventure for the almost 600 members of Ash, Bourne and Boundstone and Hale districts.

However, there is not enough spaces within the existing units to accommodate all of the girls looking to join over the next five years, leaving many families and current volunteers very frustrated.

Farnham Division Commissioner Debbie Muchmore and Commissioner Designate Rachel Britton, organised the day to find more volunteers to take over current units and open new units, plus search for volunteers to fulfil other roles such as PR, accounts, fundraising and event co-ordination.

The recruitment day which was supported by existing volunteers and members, was a great success, managing to pull in eight new volunteers as a result of the direct invitations and the day. Three of the volunteers will be taking over an existing unit, three others will open a new unit, and a further two volunteers will support other units.

The team would like to thank The Bush Hotel for hosting the event.
