Nearly 300 less fortunate households around Farnham will be getting a special Christmas delivery after residents showed bags of enthusiasm for a festive appeal.

Residents who received a yellow bag from the Farnham Lions were asked to fill them with seasonal goodies ahead of a collection on Sunday.

The response was heartwarming with 290 households set for a handout via local agencies following a morning of sorting and repacking at the Hale Community Hub.

Bags were also filled for distribution at the same venue, Brambleton Hall and Chantrys Community Centre.

Residents and volunteers have been thanked with the mayor and mayoress, George and Jacoba Murray, Susie Lidstone, Lions members and Weydon students Alice Cook and Verity Lynas namechecked for helping with the sorting and packing.
