A SONG has been released at a “crucial time” for the UK cystic fibrosis population who have been campaigning for access to new precision medicines on the NHS for more than three years.
Breathe With Me aims to raise awareness of the condition and comes after a petition urging the NHS to supply lifesaving drugs to those with cystic fibrosis triggered a parliamentary debate, set to take place on June 10 at 4.30pm.
The song is performed by emerging Indie pop artist Betsa Collins, from Farnham, who was approached by music producer Simon Ellis to work with him on the track.
Simon, who has worked with many major artists, including as musical director on tours with Britney Spears and the Spice Girls, has also previously worked with Betsa.
In a public post to her personal Facebook page, Betsa said: “It was such an honour to be asked to sing and perform this wonderful song Breathe With Me written by a great team in support of cystic fibrosis.
“The song highlights the struggles faced every day for people living with CF, including the incredibly strong girls featured in this video, Emma, Ivy, Veronica and Elizabeth, who have to face the challenges of CF every day.”
Cystic fibrosis campaigner Sue Barnes, who also worked on the Breathe With Me project, added: “Betsa’s role in the video, as a person who does not have cystic fibrosis, is to act as a conduit between the cystic fibrosis community and the general public.
“We are a small community – cystic fibrosis is classed as a rare disease – and we need all the support we can get from the wider public.”
