A FARNHAM cafe owner’s heartwarming response to her van being broken into has won many plaudits on social media.
Natalie Steward, who runs the Vintage Cake House in Downing Street, reported that various food items were stolen from her mobile cafe in Gostrey Meadow overnight on Tuesday.
?But rather than condemn the thief for their actions, Natalie decided to take an altogether different approach.
She posted to the I Love Farnham Surrey Facebook group: “Just a quick note for the person that let themselves into the van at Gostreys last night and helped themselves to all our sausage rolls, pasties and two caramel slices. I am very grateful you did not cause any damage. If you find yourself in a desperate situation again and need food please come to the van before we close. I will be more than happy to give you anything we need to get rid of that day and a hot drink. Thank you.”?
The note attracted more than 60 likes within an hour of being posted as well as praise from members of the group, with many congratulating her “fantastic attitude”.?
“Well done, be proud of yourself,” commented one Facebook user, while another wrote: “Love this post! What a fantastic way of dealing with this!”.?
The Vintage Cake House is open Tuesday to Saturday from 10am to 5pm in Gostrey Meadow, and Thursday to Saturday from 9am to 4.30pm (5pm Saturday) in Downing Street.
