A MIDDLE-aged man said to be dying from a brain tumour held a terrified heating engineer captive after being left without gas on one of the coldest nights for 60 years.

Energy official Stephen McNally was insulted and kept prisoner at the freezing home in Elstead for nearly 45 minutes, Guildford Crown Court heard.
