CONSULTANTS hired to look at options for redevelopment in Bordon High Street are due to begin their assessment next week. Mike Gibbs, the business and economic manager at East Hampshire District Council, said a private firm will begin a four-month survey of landowners, business owners and residents on January 4. This will be followed by a report to EHDC in April, which is expected to help planning chiefs form a strategy for regeneration of the site after the official decision on the future of the Army in the town. Ian Dowdle, the chairman of the Whitehill and Bordon Business Breakthrough Group, said the arrival of the consultants was "good news". Mr Dowdle said: "This shows (EHDC leader) Ferris Cowper's belief and commitment to our community and shows the district council is working for the benefit of the community. "The consultants have a wide remit looking at all options for development of the High Street. They will be able to go into more detail than the council planners could, and address the problem of a lack of investment for the last 20 years. "I'm very optimistic we can get something moving up there."
