LISS villagers won a hollow victory this week when a government inspector threw out the controversial Whistle Stop plan on a technicality.
There were only muted celebrations in the village when residents learned that Ushers, owners of the Whistle Stop pub, had failed to win their appeal against East Hampshire District Council's refusal of planning permission for the village centre site.
