AN EXTRAORDINARY motoring event, hosted at the Churt home of Tanya and Robert Lewis in partnership with the Farnham Lions, has raised just shy of £100,000 for armed forces charity Help for Heroes.

More than 1,200 cars were expected on August 10 and, defying the wind and rain, 90 per cent-plus arrived.

The cars spanned the decades from the 1920s through to the very latest models of high-performance cars; from Austin 30s to the newest Aston Martin, Lamborghini and Rolls-Royces.

Spencer Bull, Help for Heroes ambassador, offered his thanks to all for the “tremendous support”, while Tanya and Robert paid tribute the Lions for their commitment to the event and to all the other volunteers, supporters and sponsors.

Tanya, whose brother underwent rehab at Help for Heroes’ Headley Court complex, said: “Wind and rain didn’t dampen the spirits of anyone who attended the show. It was a great day much enjoyed with many people saying they are already looking forward to the next time.

“We can’t thank everyone enough who helped support our event that has raised such an amazing amount.”

The main auction featured some exclusive opportunities, including a trip for four for a tour of the Koenigsegg factory site and more, presented by supercar supremo Christian Von Koenigsegg in person.

There was also a range of silent auction items and raffle prizes on offer.

Keith Harris, of the Lions, said: “What a great result. All the hard work undertaken by so many people and the generosity of numerous groups, businesses and individuals made sure the Lewis’ event was such an incredible success. I would just add my thanks to all involved.”
