AN elderly acupuncture practitioner meted out violent retribution when he suspected his young wife of cheating on him with another man.
Binh Phung, 70, locked his spouse, Nusrat, 32, in the bedroom of their home at Wessex Place, Farnham, on February 8 and stabbed her twice after threatening to kill her, Guildford Crown Court heard.
"He was only stopped by her cries for help and by her father forcing the locked doors open," Ruby Selva, prosecuting, told the court.
Now the defendant, described in court as a jealous and possessive husband, is behind bars awaiting sentence after being convicted of attempting to cause his wife grievous bodily harm with intent.
Mr Phung denied the charge but was found guilty by a jury, following a trial.
He was cleared of attempted murder, which he also denied.
