A High Court injunction has been extended to prevent further activity at a travellers’ camp near Alton.

East Hampshire District Council took legal action after caravans moved onto a field in Medstead on May 22.

Hard-standing and septic tanks were also installed at the site beside the junction of Abbey Road and Wivelrod Road, with the EHDC Planning Enforcement Team serving a Stop Temporary Stop Notice.

Their Legal Team, working with London Chambers, was granted an interim injunction which has since been extended to prevent further work on the site.

Cllr Angela Glass, EHDC Portfolio Holder for Enforcement and Regulation, said unauthorised development would not be tolerated.

She added: “By extending this High Court injunction, we are not only preventing further activity on the site but we are sending a strong message that we will use every legal power available to prevent further breaches and uphold the rule of law.”
