AN inquest into the death of a free runner who was killed after an accident on the Paris Metro has been opened.
Nye Newman, was killed on New Year’s Day in the French capital, leading to a flood of tributes for the “incredible”, “inspirational” and “well loved” 17 year old.
Following his death, free-running and parkour group Brewman, which Nye co-created said ‘train surfing’ was not the reason for his death, following video footage emerging which showed members of the group, not including Mr Newman, surfing train carriages just weeks prior to the fatal accident.
However, Paris’ public transport operator RATP said the former All Hallows Catholic School student was seen “between two wagons” shortly before he was killed.
Opened on Friday, February 3, the cause of his death is listed as ‘Paris Train Accident’, with the coroner hoping to release their full review of the inquest, or to list it for review on March 28.
