THE Mayor of Waverley, Mike Band is inviting residents to join him on two sponsored walks around the Greensand Way of Surrey Hills to raise money for his chosen charities.

Mr Band will be embarking on both of the 12-mile trails, which take in the breadth of Waverley, throughout the month of September.

He is hoping to raise as much money as possible for his two chosen charities; the Surrey Hills Trust Fund and Dan’s Fund For Burns.

The mayor, who is also vice-chairman of the Surrey Hills AONB Board, said: “As residents of Waverley we are extremely lucky to live so close to the beautiful Surrey Hills.

“I want to make sure this wonderful part of the county, and also wonderful part of the country, is preserved for future generations to enjoy.

“Dan’s Fund For Burns is another amazing charity that is very close to my heart. It does some fantastic work for people who have suffered major burns injuries.

“I really hope lots of people will join me on the walks and offer their support.

“The routes on both days will be around 12 miles, but if it is not possible for you to take part in the entire day, you can book to do a morning or afternoon session.”

The first walk will take place on Sunday, September 13, at 9.30am, starting at Haslemere and heading to Merry Harriers at Hambledon, stopping off at Thursley for a buffet lunch.

The second will take place on Sunday, September 20 at 9.30am and will continue from Merry Harriers travelling through Shamley Green to the finish point in the Ewhurst/Holmbury area.
