THE fate of a Tilford pensioner accused of double murder hangs in the balance, after jurors retired to consider their verdicts on Tuesday.

John Lowe, an 82-year-old dog breeder, has denied murdering Christine Lee, 66, and her daughter Lucy, 40, at his farm Keepers Cottage Stud in Waverley Lane in February.

Three weeks into his trial at Guildford Crown Court, judge Mr Justice Singh finished his summing up on Tuesday and sent the jury out to decide if Mr Lowe is guilty or not.

Mr Justice Singh summed up the final statements by both sides on Tuesday morning by reminding the jury of the events that led to Mr Lowe's arrest.

Police officers were called to the farm on February 23 following reports that a firearm had been discharged at the property.

On arrival they discovered the body of a guard dog on the front step and the body of Lucy Lee outside, near the animal pens. Christine Lee was found dead inside the main farm building and both women had been shot in the chest.
