It must be obvious by now even to our local councillors that the planned new road layout in Farnham is not going to work.
The town centre is choked - occasionally gridlocked - on a daily basis primarily because the relatively free-flowing junction at the top of Downing Street, which previously relied on common sense and courtesy, has been replaced by uncompromising traffic lights.
Traffic lights which will remain when all the immensely disruptive work has been completed.
Traffic lights which are only there to serve the few cars at a time who are now able to turn right at the bottom of Castle Street. Why? The existing "round the block" one-way system was far from perfect but used to work reasonably well for most of the time.
As for the forthcoming chaos on completion of the new arrangements attempting to permit three streams of traffic instead of two into Central Car Park - again, why?
