PLANS are now well under way to make Farnham Carnival 2016 a really magical time for the young at heart, whatever their age.

This year’s theme is Disney, Superheroes and Fairy Tales, offering the widest possible scope for those thinking about taking part in the procession to give full rein to their imaginations and really get those creative juices flowing.

Carnival chairman Colin Jordan said: “There is still plenty of time for anyone to join in the fun. Entry is free and carnival provides the ideal opportunity for you to show Farnham what your club or business is really all about.

“On the other hand, it gives you the chance simply to enjoy yourselves. And all the money collected during the procession is distributed back to the school youth groups and charities who take part.”

As in previous years, there is enjoyment for all the family throughout carnival day which takes place on Saturday, June 25.

At Gostrey Fayre from 2pm to 9pm, families and friends of all ages can enjoy the entertainment, sample delicious food and buy local produce.

And 2016 will see even more children’s games and activities during the afternoon, and for the first time there will be a large craft marquee, at which a range of arts and crafts specialists will display their skills, reflecting Farnham’s reputation as a craft town.

At 6pm, the procession will wind its way through the town centre, starting at The Hart and including the usual array of schools, clubs, marching bands and other organisations, bringing Farnham to life with their colourful and noisy creations.

Once again, Farnham Carnival is organised by Farnham Lions and The Hedgehogs, with support from the Farnham Herald, Farnham Town Council, Surrey County Council and local businesses. So come along and enjoy the fun.
