EF Benson’s hilarious 1920s novels of the war for social supremacy between Lucia and Miss Mapp in Tilling, are here brought to the stage with all the wit, irony and humour of the originals by the cast of Tilbourne Players.
Up to now, Tilling’s doyenne has been Miss Mapp, but Lucia is the supreme poseuse who peppers her speech with Italian phrases she doesn’t understand. And when Lucia rents Miss Mapp’s house for the summer the battle lines are drawn.
Director Hilary Lee-Corbin said: “We have a superb cast with Jane Quicke playing Lucia, Sara Wilson-Soppitt as Mapp, Ian Wilson-Soppitt as Georgie and Nigel Dams as Major Benji.
“There are also some excellent character parts played by Marion Homer, Noel Thompson and Di and Jo Huddleston. This one is bound to be popular, so make sure you get your tickets in time.”
Performances are on Thursday, April 6, Friday, April 7, and Saturday, April 8, starting at 8pm at the Tilford Institute. To book tickets call 01252 724344 or go to the group’s website at www.tilbourneplayers.org.uk.
