FARNHAM Sixth Form College will once again join forces with the Old Farnhamians’ Association, Farnham Girls’ Grammar School Old Girls’ Association and Farnham Educational Foundation, for two high-profile events at the college.
After the success of the 2015 lecture by Dr Sophie Ambler on ‘The Magna Carta Project’. the college will host a garden party celebration for the Queen’s 90th birthday.
The event will take place on Sunday, June 5, on the lawns of the college at Morley Road, and it is hoped that 120 people will attend this special ‘royal’ event.
The guests will include pupils and staff of the former grammar schools and the present day sixth form vollege. The afternoon will include a buffet lunch, ‘royal’ raffle, and performances by In Accord ladies choir.
All proceeds will go to Challengers, a local charity which supports any child or young person with any impairment. Tickets are £10 per person and can be obtained from the college reception on 01252 71 69 88. All former pupils of the grammar schools and college are welcome.
Staying with the ‘royal’ theme, the Old Farnhamians’ Association and Farnham Sixth Form College co-present the 2016 Farnham Lecture on Sunday, September 25, with guest speaker, Dickie Arbiter.
The lecture will be entitled ‘The British Monarchy, Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow’.
Dickie has spent 20 years as secretary to the Queen, and has worked many years as a well-known broadcaster and an expert on toyalty. Tickets will cost £7.50 per person, and are available the college reception on 01252 71 69 88.
