FARNHAM farmers’ market is becoming even more local this month as Farnham Local Food hosts the charity tea tent.
Farnham Local Food is a volunteer-run agriculture project which provides fresh, locally grown vegetables for people in and around Farnham. As well as running the tea tent, Farnham Local Food will have a stall at the market.
The market takes place from 10am to 1.30pm this Sunday in Central car park off Victoria Road, Farnham.
Jill Hargreaves, the town council’s lead member for tourism and events, said: “I am particularly looking forward to seeing Farnham Local Food at this month’s farmers’ market. It is an excellent time of year for fresh produce and I expect they will have some really wonderful locally grown vegetables to buy.
“They rely on volunteers to keep going so if you are interested in gardening, even if you are a complete novice, do visit the stand to find out how to get involved.”
July’s market features delicious soft fruit and seasonal vegetables such as peas, runner beans, salad leaves and even artichokes. New to the market this month is the Gimblett Cheese Company based in Grayswood, Haslemere.
It uses unpasteurised milk from Jersey cows at Pierrepont Farm in Frensham to produce a soft, washed rind cheese, straight from the Surrey Hills.
There will also be high quality locally produced meat, fresh fish, breads, cakes, preserves, eggs and a full range of dairy products. Plants will be available too.
Entertainment at this month’s market comes from popular ukulele band UKAN Hop.
