UNRAVEL is bringing a festival of yarn to Farnham Maltings from February 11-13.

Following a scaled back version of the show in 2021 as a result of the pandemic, the full experience returns this year.

One of the largest independent yarn shows in south-east England, Unravel celebrates its 14th year in 2022.

Craft events co-ordinator and Unravel organiser Allison Thistlewood said: “We are thrilled that makers are eager to come back to the Maltings, and to in-person yarn shows.

“Exhibitor applications were at record numbers and we’re receiving enquiries about tickets being on sale for the event. It is reassuring to see that visitors can’t wait to return to the show to see and support their favourite makers.”

The Unravel marketplace will feature 70 exhibitors from around the UK and beyond. New this year are El Robeldal de la Santa from Spain, Pigment & Ply, plus new dyer Bona Yarns.

Rauwerk from Germany also returns along with Perran Yarns from Cornwall, Tyddyn Bryn from Wales, and Caithness Yarns, Rainbow Heirloom and a special Stitchbirdie + Woollenflower collaboration, all from Scotland.

There will be plenty more new makers and audience favourites, plus a separate online marketplace.

Allison said: “Visitors to Unravel last year really enjoyed the hybrid in-person/online format. We love that makers from around the world can join us for workshops, talks and other social opportunities.”

Garthenor Organic is again sponsoring the series of talks, which will take place live at the festival while also being streamed and recorded for online visitors.

The workshop programme features in-person and online classes with tutors including Olga Buraya-Kefelian, Sandra Gutierrez, André de Castro, Alanna Wilcox, Julie Crawford, Aleks Byrd, Carolyn Bloom and Rhea Burns.

Unravel is open 9am-5pm on February 11 and 12, and 10am-4pm on February 13. One-day in-person tickets cost £12, which includes all-weekend online access. Online tickets cost £4. Workshops must be booked. The full programme is at unravelfestival.com Book at [email protected]
