Farnham Maltings will host the hustings for the South West Surrey constituency on Sunday, November 24, with all parliamentary candidates invited to attend, ahead of the upcoming general election.

The hustings will give voters the opportunity to hear what each of the candidates are offering to best meet the needs of the constituency and hear more about the policies of each political party represented.

After lively and thought-provoking debates for the 2015 and 2017 general elections, and the EU referendum, the Maltings is continuing to develop its community-focused work around civic engagement.

Director Gavin Stride said: “We’re passionate about promoting a healthier and more inclusive set of communities in Farnham and, as part of that, we’re delighted to propel conversation about our local and national political landscapes.

“We want the public to ask crucial and probing questions so that we can continue to thoughtfully debate the things that matter to all of us.”

Candidates will answer a selection of questions which will be submitted before the event. These will be chosen by an independent panel to reflect a range of topics on a local and a national scale.

This event is free to attend but tickets will be required. Tickets can be obtained from farnhammaltings.com or by calling the box office on 01252 745444.

Anybody wishing to ask a question at this hustings event should submit their question (along with their name and contact details) to [email protected] or in person to the Maltings’ box office before Thursday, November 21, at 4pm.

Candidates in South West Surrey must submit their nomination papers before 4pm on November 14, with three hopefuls so far throwing their hats in the ring: Jeremy Hunt (Conservative), Paul Follows (Lib Dem), and Tim Corry (Labour).

Green Party borough councillor Steve Williams had also announced his candidacy, but withdrew as part of a nationwide pact with the Lib Dems.
