ROCK around the Christmas tree at Haslemere DJ Keith Connors’ Groovy Wonderland Christmas Eve party – and help raise money for a number of community projects.
The party at The Swan in the High Street will raise funds for Haslemere Mayor Sahran Abeysundara’s nominated charity, the town’s Penny Ha’Penny Trust.
It was set up by the town council to benefit the people of Haslemere and the surrounding area, and will fund community projects run by the volunteer sector.
Historically it takes its name from Hanna Oakley, who was the last water carrier from the town well behind the museum, and charged the townsfolk a penny ha’penny for the service.
Keith, of Twilights Entertainment, used to DJ at the pub on its jam-packed Friday nights back in the 1990s.
He told The Herald: “This is a real chance to turn back the clock, revisit a night of classic tracks and meet up with friends for an unrivalled night of fun at the best Christmas event in town.
“Get yourselves together for this festive full-on party night”.
The music starts at 8pm through till midnight and entrance is free, but a donation to the mayor’s charity would be much appreciated. There will also be a fun raffle.
