CUSTOMERS of The Running Stream pub in Farnham have raised £1,000 from a series of weekly meat raffles and have donated the money to Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice.

The raffles, which have been held every Friday for the last 21 years is organised by pub landlord Trevor Grubb who decided that this year the proceeds go to Phyllis Tuckwell.

He said: “The raffles are very popular. Our customers are pleased to see the money raised go to a good cause and as Phyllis Tuckwell is a local charity, lots of people have connections with it and want to support the work it does.”

Leanne Tembo, community fundraiser at Phyllis Tuckwell said: “We are thrilled that these raffles have raised so much money, and delighted that Trevor and his team have decided to donate the money to support hospice care.

“As the NHS/Government only covers 20 per cent of our costs, we have to raise over £15,000 a day to be able to offer all our services, and we rely heavily on the support and generosity of our local community to do this.”
