A SCHEME to provide young people in Bordon and the surrounding area with mopeds to get to work is set to go ahead after funding was approved by East Hampshire District Council. The Wheels to Work project, which could provide up to nine mopeds for the area, secured £4,500 from the community forum meeting held last Tuesday. The project provides young people with the use of a moped to travel to work placements or work- related training. The pilot scheme has already seen success in the New Forest and Test Valley area. At the previous community forum meeting held in January, councillors were supportive of the scheme, but asked the Wheels to Work team to look at alternative funding. Following a further presentation from the Wheels to Work scheme, councillors voted to fund the scheme with developers contributions. The forum heard that after securing funding from the other three community forums, the scheme depended on funding from the Whitehill-Bordon and Liphook forum. Local county councillor Adam Carew said; "I really do believe this project could help young people get to work, and I think we should go ahead with funding."
