JEREMY Hunt, South-West Surrey MP and Secretary of State for Health, helped sign off Dementia Awareness Week on Saturday with a sponsored walk round Farnham Park to raise awareness and vital funds for the Alzheimer's Society. More than 70 people, including people with dementia and carers, joined the MP in the Defeat Dementia walk, donning their walking shoes to complete four-kilometer or eight-kilometre routes. The MP said: "It was fantastic to see so many people taking part in the sponsored walk. Such events help not only to raise funds to support the Alzheimer's Society's excellent work but also signal a really positive shift in attitude as we take on board the importance of raising awareness about dementia."
