CONCERN is growing for the welfare of a Whitehill man who has not been seen for more than seven days.
Andrew Van-Golen, 33, left his home Ð which he shares with his mum, brother and sister in South Hurst Ð at 11 am on Thursday September 4.
He drove off in his red and white Rover and has not been seen since. Mr Van-GolenÕs car was later found, locked up as normal, in Liphook Road at the entrance to the Longmoor firing ranges.
Searches of the ranges were conducted over the weekend by officers from Whitehill Police Station and the MoD police, around 20 Bordon soldiers, a dog handler and a search specialist.
Officers from Whitehill police also circulated two photographs of Mr Van-Golen, and a description of what he was wearing on the morning he went missing, to residents in Liphook Road in a bid to trace him.
Now after failing to find any sign of Mr Van-Golen, the police are appealing to the public for help in finding him.
Mr Van-Golen has lived in the area all of his life and police said he is well-known locally.
He is white, 5Õ 7Ó tall, of slim build and has short light brown hair which is brushed forward in an untidy style. He was clean shaven when he was last seen. He wears a crucifix on a chain and he has a blue and green tattoo on his right forearm.
When he went missing he was wearing a grey short-sleeved polo shirt, beige jeans and brown leather boots.
Mr Van-Golen owns a white Jack Russell dog, with black and brown patches over one eye, which he walks in the Deadwater Valley and Longmoor ranges area.
However, when he left his house on the morning he went missing, he left his dog behind.
The reason he went missing is a mystery to both police and his family as he does not have a history of depression or mental illness and he is not believed to have fallen out with anyone at his home.
Acting Sergeant Andy Brookes, of Whitehill Police, has appealed to anyone who has any information about Mr Van-GolenÕs whereabouts to contact police.
ÒThere is concern for his whereabouts and his welfare,Ó he said.
ÒThere is nothing to suggest he has done anything amiss. It is not premeditated at all. We put out information about him and photographs of him to people in the local vicinity in Liphook Road close to where the vehicle was found. We have been doing various searches for him.
ÒWe have had a lot of people who have seen the car but none who have seen him. We need to speak to anyone who has seen him or the vehicle or somebody with the vehicle. We know that he has the only set of keys to the vehicle with him.Ó
Anyone who has any information that they believe may help police to locate Mr Van-Golen is urged to contact Whitehill Police Station on 0845 045 45 45.
