PREMIERING at Edinburgh Fringe Festival 2017, ‘Looking for Mummy’, the stage play of Iranian detainee, Nazanin Zaghari-Ratcliffe, is calling for the public’s help to get it out of Edinburgh and in front of audiences across the UK.
Nazanin, wife to former Farnham boy Richard Ratcliffe, has been in prison since September as part of a five-year sentence for national security related crimes.
The production, by Howell Productions, tells the true story of what happened and is continuing to happen to Nazanin and her family since that day.
“It was a disconcerting experience to watch our lives on stage – strangely out of body, uncomfortably familiar,” said Richard.
“I found it hard to watch. Watching Nazanin in that room, isolated in cruelty, was a reminder of things I don’t like to think about .
“Reliving trauma also revives it, reignites the embers of old pains.”
