As part of its 50th year celebrations the Lions Club of Farnham are delighted that there will be a specially commissioned ale available at this year’s Beerex to help celebrate this special occasion.
Brewed by last year’s ‘Beer of the Festival’ winners, the Tilford Brewery has produced a limited edition golden ale named Roaring Gold.
With an ABV of 4.3 per cent Roaring Gold has been produced using four different English hops, bramling cross, pilot, first gold and cascade resulting in a light golden ale with spicy lemon and orange marmalade notes, with a floral end from the late cascade.
Earlier this month, Beerex chairman Phil Alexander and Andy Gilbert, who has the onerous task of selecting the beers for Beerex, joined up with Mark Collins and Paul Griffiths of the Tilford Brewery to brew the special ale (pictured).
Roaring Gold will be available at each Beerex session but is likely to sell out early on, so don’t leave it too late to try.
Farnham Beerex 2018 will take place between April 12 and 14 at the Farnham Maltings, as it has done every year since 1977, making it the longest running beer festival in the country at the same location.
This year’s event promises more than 60 real ales as well as a special ‘Cumbrian’ bar, ciders and perries, barbecue and hot meals, and live music courtesy of five great bands. It will also celebrate 40 years of cartoonist Bill Tidy’s revered Beerex programme covers.
Tickets, costing £10 each, for the Friday and Saturday sessions are sold out. However, there are a number still available for the Thursday evening (6pm to 11pm) session on April 12.
Peter Matthews, of the Beerex committee, said: “The staffing arrangements are in good shape, the beers are ordered, the music is booked, and the cartoon has arrived from Bill Tidy! We are looking forward to seeing you during the festival.
“If you know of anyone who would like to come along to this session, the tickets are on sale via the Farnham Maltings box office in person, by calling 01252 745444 or online at www.farnhammaltings.com/venue/box-office and www.farnhamlions.org.uk.”
