WITH next year's elections looming large East Hampshire District Council (EHDC) is appealing to people with "the passion and drive to make a difference" to throw their hat in the ring.

Drop-in sessions taking place tomorrow, next week and in November are designed to "invest in our future and look to the councillor of tomorrow", according to Dean Phillips, EHDC's portfolio holder for corporate development.

With a significant number of district councillors expected to throw in the towel at the next elections, EHDC is hoping that some new blood will come forward to fill the gaps and people will put themselves forward for the potential 44 seats on offer.

The non-political move comes with elections just seven months away on May 7 next year.
