A TEAM of energy-efficiency specialists has been recruited to ensure new homes built in Whitehill and Bordon meet “the highest standards”.

The National Energy Foundation, commissioned by East Hampshire District Council, is working with Radian and its building contractor Drew Smith on new homes at Quebec Park.

New homes typically use at least twice as much energy as predicted. But the newly built homes at Quebec Park have received five stages of expert, impartial review and assessment - by the National Energy Foundation under its Assured Performance Process - of areas such as planning, design, construction and completion. This means the new homes should deliver the energy and carbon performance they are designed to achieve.

Adam Carew, the district council’s portfolio-holder for the environment, said: “Everything we do in Whitehill and Bordon is underpinned by a clear focus on quality and environmental performance. With the abolition of the Government’s Code Levels for sustainable homes, the council needs to ensure maximum energy efficiency is achieved in Whitehill and Bordon.

“The district council environmental team are working with the National Energy Foundation and the developer to ensure just that.

“The Assured Performance Process these homes have been through will ensure they are energy efficient, keep heat in the home and keep energy bills low.”
