The former Jack and Alice site on The Borough, long a familiar haunt for Farnham diners, is set for a new chapter next month.

On September 5, the doors will open to Tavola Di Famiglia, a Tuscan-inspired Italian restaurant promising rustic cooking and warm hospitality at the very heart of the town.

Not far away, Brightwells Yard is also preparing for a new arrival.

Den 97, a sports bar and restaurant, has applied to open at 5 Nightingale Walk, directly opposite the Reel Cinema.

The venture follows the success of Den 47 in Wokingham, with the owners again partnering with SoBe Burger and Siren Craft Brew to deliver Miami-style smash burgers, craft beers and wall-to-wall sport.

Alongside live screenings, the venue will host quizzes, bingo nights and tournaments, aiming to become as much a social hub as a bar.

Tavola Di Famiglia, meanwhile, is the creation of brothers Sam and Jamie Haworth, who began in Worthing by taking over a long-standing Italian favourite.

Their blend of traditional dishes, convivial atmosphere and family spirit proved a winning formula, and Farnham is now to become home to their second restaurant.

With its emphasis on shared plates and regional wines, the restaurant looks set to build on the town’s growing reputation for Mediterranean dining.

The expansion does not end there. On East Street, national wine retailer Laithwaites has submitted an application for a premises licence at 88A, beside Cook.

The move would place one of Britain’s largest wine merchants in direct competition with Majestic Wines, already a short stroll away. Should approval be granted, residents may have a fresh trove of bottles to explore in time for the festive season.

Together, the three ventures mark a significant infusion of new food and drink options for Farnham’s centre.
