LAST week's parish council by-election produced a surprise result as former chairman Barry Hope took the majority of the votes to gain election, with relatively unknown Jacqueline Pool preventing Kay Murray from succeeding her late husband David.
The latter's death earlier this year created one of the vacancies – the other came about when Nick Everett moved away from the area.
