Sir, – I am concerned to hear that planning permission has been granted on appeal for a mobile phone mast near the corner of Three Stiles Road and Crondall Lane, despite strong objections from local residents.

As an Orange customer who lives in Tor Road (who would supposedly benefit from the proposed mast less than 500 metres away) I would like to assure you that I have had no problems in getting a good signal when using my mobile phone. I therefore see no need to erect the mast and strongly object to it.

And, while agreeing that the chosen site may conceal the mast effectively, my main

concern is the potential health implications from the electro-magnetic radiation emitted by the mast, which should not be placed in a residential area.

I saw the article on page 3 of the Farnham Herald (November 2) and hope that you will follow up the matter in later issues. I have already written on similar lines to Peer Hall (UK Group Director of Engineering at Orange), Virginia Bottomley MP and her agent and Surrey Council Offices. I hope to

e-mail various Waverley Borough Councillors, the Waverley Planning Dept and Farnham Town councillor, Peter Hornsby, about the issue, tomorrow.

Andrea Ballard (Mrs)

Tor Road, Farnham
