DESPITE clouds and rainstorms, 2,000 smiling people flocked to the 100 activities at this year's two-day Kidsfest on Bishop's Meadow.

Where else could a child, encrusted in sticky custard, walk across to a rock and pop school, stroke a pig, eat nitrogen ice cream, weave a rug, build a Lego boat, play an enormous drum, run an obstacle course in jelly-filled wellies and then sing in a talent show and win £500?
