THE first details have emerged about plans for a street party in Odiham to celebrate the Queen’s 90th birthday.
On June 12, Odiham High Street will be closed to traffic and instead will shift into full street party mode to mark Her Majesty’s official milestone birthday.
And businesses and the parish council are determined to make it a day to remember.
RAF Odiham will play a big part in the day, supplying more than 100 tables. They will be made available to the public to hire for around £20.
The council reckon that is a fair price and will help them cover the cost of the day while remaining affordable for residents.
The RAF will also provide volunteers to help with the clean-up operation at the end of the day.
Other businesses getting involved include Odiham Cake Company, which is designing a special birthday cake with the help of schools. The bakers are promising a spectacular centrepiece for the day.
A time-lapse camera will be set up to capture all the action in a unique way. The camera will run all day to capture it all, from start to finish. A fly-past by the Red Arrows display team during the afternoon is bound to be a highlight.
North East Hampshire MP Ranil Jayawardena will be there, and intends to play a full part in the celebrations.
