OLYMPIC swimming bronze medallist Steve Parry, who won his medal at the Athens games, was the humorous and engaging speaker at Weydon School's awards evening.
The event, which both awards students' successes and inspires them, and others, to achieve their best, was hosted by the head boy and head girl.
On the evening of celebration, awards for achievement within a subject area and for progress and effort were presented by headteacher John Winter, Steve Parry and the vice chairman of governors, Sue Keogh. Students received a specially designed prize-winners' tie, a certificate and a voucher.
Their achievements were celebrated in front of their parents, Weydon School staff and VIP guests. The applause rang out and parents were clearly delighted and proud of their children's outstanding achievement.
Mr Winter said: "The event was a very warm and fulfilling evening which was a reflection not only of the academic elements of school life, but the holistic educational experience.
"Mr Parry provided the audience with some wonderful stories which I am sure they will never forget. He was an inspiration to us all. I am very proud of the students and their achievements."
In his annual speech to parents, Mr Winter, thanked students, teachers, parents and governors for their work in the ongoing success of students at Weydon School.
